An open-source desktop AI agent that works with your files, documents, and workflows locally.
OpenYak is a local-first desktop AI agent for Windows, macOS, and Linux that operates directly on your workspace folders, runs tools, and produces real file outputs instead of chat-bubble answers. It is aimed at teams who want AI to interact with sensitive data and produce concrete deliverables, like documents, reports, and tables, without uploading anything to the cloud.
The agent ships with over twenty built-in tools for file edits, shell tasks, parsing, browsing, memory, and artifact creation, plus a workspace memory that scopes notes per project directory. It supports 100+ model providers, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek, Qwen, Meta, Mistral, Ollama, and OpenRouter, so you can mix cloud APIs with locally hosted models or bring your own keys.
Forty-six pre-configured MCP connectors handle OAuth so you can wire up integrations quickly, and a secure tunnel with QR-code handoff makes it possible to drive the desktop agent from another device. Common use cases shown in the docs include vendor-invoice review with PO matching, XLSX/CSV data parsing, and ops workflows where keeping files local is part of the requirement.
